Hi and thank you for visiting! I’m Scott Temaat (aka Scott Roberts), my wife is Roxan. We’re insanely excited about this trip and are finding ourselves quite enjoying the cruise lifestyle.
Why name it 2 of 8,000? The Encore sails with a capacity of about four thousand. We’re taking two cruises in the eyes of NCL, so we are two of approximately eight thousand passengers capacity between the trips. Even pre-COVID I would not have expected either voyage to sail at full capacity given it being literally the last trip of the season in Alaska (for any line) and a repositioning cruise. But hey, I needed something for the domain name, so there we are!
A Little About Us

from the 25th anniversary cruise.
I, Scott, am a remote worker. I am the Infrastructure Support Manager for Convesio, a company which hosts websites (including this one) based on the WordPress content management system. I’ve been with the company since August 2019, and actually finished the arrangements for taking the job during our last cruise. The company is growing rapidly, and in addition to being responsible for all the servers, I am building the Customer Support organization as we grow.
I am a former radio personality (as Scott Roberts, on stations in small markets of Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas). I am an entrepreneur — I founded Virtual News Center, a company that lets radio stations deliver network-quality news for their local market at lower cost due to the newscasters being remote workers. I exited that company in 2015. My hobby, though it has become what I’m best known for, is storm chasing. I run KSStorm.info, a site focused on storm educaiton, safety and preparedness, and the home of my live streams when I am chasing. Earlier in life I was an EMT and worked in Emergency Management for a short time. I am trained as a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member and am part of the Butler County, KS CERT team, though mostly inactive at this time. I’ve also dispatched ambulances and worked as a communicator for a medical evacuation flight service.

Roxan is a Registered Nurse. She works for Ascension Via Christi Hospital, in the Wellington KS Emergency Room. She has been a Flight RN for seven years and previously was a travel RN (5 years), ER Nurse (5 years), and Neuro ICU Nurse (4 years). She is also a Paramedic, and worked in both urban and rural EMS systems before going to nursing school.
We have been married since 1991 and have two daughters. Our oldest is a Special Ed Math teacher at a middle school in Wichita. She has the only grandchildren in the family, three boys and three girls. Our youngest is attending Emporia State University to obtain her teaching degree. She plans to be a secondary music (vocal and instrumental) teacher. Both girls joined us on our 2019 Alaska Cruise. I’ll post highlights of that cruise sometime.

Learning New Things
Given the two-year timeline before we depart, we’re using the opportunity to learn some new skills and undertake some other self-improvement items. I discussed those on Monday. I’m going to link to our accountability posts below, and will be posting some of the things we learn over time so you can benefit from the knowledge.
Past Cruises
We’re still fairly young cruisers. We have two trips under our belts so far.

Alaska, 2016 (11-day Denali CruiseTour, NCL Sun): our 25th anniversary.

Alaska, 2019 (7-day southbound cruise, NCL Jewel): Cristi’s 16th birthday trip and Pat’s graduation present.
We had originally planned to sail June 2021 on a 9-day Alaksa round trip on the Sun. This back to back is a replacement for that trip.
I plan to post highlights of our first two trips soon.
